Recently, a consortium led by POWERCHINA Northeast Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. signed an EPC turnkey contract for the 200MW AC mountainous photovoltaic project with 80MW/80MWh energy storage system in the Morowali Industrial Park, Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Located in Morowali County, Indonesia, the project includes:
- A 200MW/255MWp photovoltaic power station
- An 80MW/80MWh energy storage power station
- A 220kV substation
- 10km of 220kV transmission lines
Adopting the EPC turnkey model, this project currently stands as Indonesia’s largest integrated solar-plus-storage facility.
Project significance:
- Will power 160,000 local households annually
- Reduces CO2 emissions by 240,000 tons/year
- Marks POWERCHINA’s 5th energy storage project in Southeast Asia
- Demonstrates China’s integrated solar-storage EPC capabilities
The project is scheduled for completion in Q4 2026, with construction incorporating earthquake-resistant designs for the mountainous terrain and advanced battery safety systems. Industry observers note this represents a major step in Indonesia’s renewable energy transition, combining Chinese technology with local resource advantages.
