On January 15, Dongfang International, a subsidiary of Dongfang Electric Corporation, signed an EPC contract for the Guzar Solar and Energy Storage Project, the largest integrated solar-plus-storage project in mountainous terrain in Uzbekistan.
Located in the Kashkadarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the project is being developed by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company and constructed under an EPC contract by Dongfang International. The project features an integrated solar-plus-storage design, with plans to build a 300-megawatt photovoltaic system paired with a 75-megawatt-hour energy storage system. The project is also equipped with an intelligent cleaning system and a full-chain intelligent charge-discharge system, enabling flexible dispatch and smooth output of clean electricity.
Once operational, the project is expected to meet the electricity demands of approximately 60,000 local households, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 400,000 tons annually, significantly enhance the stability and peak-shaving capacity of Uzbekistan’s power system, and contribute positively to the country’s energy transition and socioeconomic development.
