Chint Solar has recently formed a strategic partnership with London-based Voltis to jointly develop a portfolio of centralized renewable energy and battery storage projects in the UK, with a total capacity of approximately 5GW. The related planning has already entered the preliminary preparation stage.
It is reported that the project portfolio includes three types of developments: new solar power plants, standalone energy storage power stations, and integrated solar-plus-storage hybrid plants. The integrated solar-plus-storage model enables the storage of excess electricity generated during midday peak solar hours for discharge during evening peak demand periods, while simultaneously providing grid ancillary services such as fast frequency response and voltage regulation. The projects will utilize standardized tracking systems and high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, paired with grid-forming inverters featuring “virtual inertia” and voltage support capabilities, along with real-time responsive Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to ensure maximum power generation and storage efficiency.
