According to The New York Times, two informed sources revealed that the Trump administration is preparing to terminate a $7 billion federal funding program designed to help low- and middle-income families install solar panels on their homes.
The sources stated that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is drafting termination letters to 60 nonprofit organizations and state agencies that had received the funding through the “Solar for All” program, with the goal of sending these letters by the end of the week.
If finalized, this move would further escalate the Trump administration’s efforts to claw back tens of billions of dollars in funding allocated under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. It is also certain to trigger legal challenges from funding recipients, many of whom have already advanced related projects in Republican-led states.
