Under sunlight, unfolding the flexible solar panel on a phone case and pressing the switch immediately starts charging the phone. Recently, on the campus of the University of South China in Hengyang, Hunan, the Rouneng Optoelectronics project team demonstrated their latest achievement—a flexible perovskite solar-powered phone case capable of on-the-go charging.
Tang Junjie, founder of the Rouneng Optoelectronics team at the University of South China, explained that the team independently developed a PEDOT:PSS transparent flexible electrode to replace the traditional brittle ITO material. Using a low-cost liquid-phase film-forming method, they resolved the issue of ITO electrode cracking. Additionally, the team innovatively applied a molecular bridging technique between perovskite grains, akin to reinforcing bricks with steel bars, solving the problem of film fracture. Through bidirectional interfacial bonding technology, they achieved robust chemical adhesion between layers using multifunctional molecules, ensuring the solar panel remains intact even under prolonged bending.
