Recently, the Management Committee of Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone announced the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment documents for the Phase II Laboratory Technical Renovation Project of JA Solar Yangzhou R&D Center Building 3.
According to the announcement, the project is located within the Jinghui plant area of JA Solar’s Yangzhou facility. It plans to adopt TOPCon and HJT technology routes to construct the “Phase II Laboratory Technical Renovation Project of JA Solar Yangzhou R&D Center Building 3,” focusing on the research and development of TOPCon, HJT, and other types of solar cells.
The project primarily involves repurposing the discontinued Workshop 5 (the original Building 15) to renovate the heterojunction “High-Efficiency Solar Cell R&D Pilot Project” inside the workshop. No modifications are planned for other workshops within the Jinghui plant area.
The technical renovation project is expected to involve a total investment of 73 million yuan. It includes the construction of one high-efficiency battery R&D line and the procurement of approximately 18 units (sets) of equipment, such as tube diffusion furnaces, aluminum oxide equipment, LPCVD systems, and laser machines. The project will also utilize existing equipment in Workshop 5, including texturing, PECVD, CVD, and printing systems. Upon completion, the project will enable R&D work on high-efficiency cells such as TOPCon and HJT.
