JA Solar to Supply 1.2GW of Modules for ACWA Power’s Solar Project in Uzbekistan

According to reports, on November 6, 2025, photovoltaic manufacturer JA Solar signed a module supply agreement with the Indian company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to provide all photovoltaic modules for the Samarkand Solar Plant Phases 1 and 2 in Uzbekistan.

In the project, L&T serves as the EPC contractor, responsible for the design, procurement, and construction of the entire project.

The project, developed by Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power, has a total installed capacity of 1.2GW and represents a significant milestone in Uzbekistan’s energy transition.

Upon commissioning, the project is expected to generate enough electricity annually to meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of households while reducing carbon emissions by over 1 million tons per year. This will strongly support Uzbekistan’s national strategic goal of achieving a 25% renewable energy share by 2030.
