Data released by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy on the 20th revealed that in 2024, the share of renewable energy in the country’s total electricity generation reached 6.43%, marking a significant increase from the 3% recorded in 2020.

The ministry stated that the rising proportion of renewable energy underscores Kazakhstan’s positive strides in developing green energy. In recent years, the country has provided robust support for renewable energy development through measures such as strengthening policy frameworks, introducing advanced technologies, and optimizing the business environment.
Expanding renewable energy capacity stands as one of Kazakhstan’s key initiatives to drive its energy mix transformation, achieve sustainable development, and combat climate change. To date, the country has completed 154 renewable energy projects, comprising 63 wind farms, 46 solar power plants, 42 hydroelectric stations, and three biomass plants.
