LONGi Green Energy Establishes Joint Venture in the United States

Recently, international lithium battery supplier NeoVolta announced that it will commence production of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Pendergrass, Georgia. NeoVolta’s partner is the “new alliance” in the energy storage sector — LONGi & Jinkon Energy.

Through the establishment of a joint venture named NeoVolta Power with LONGi and Jinkon Energy, the company will build a BESS production base in Pendergrass, Georgia, with an annual capacity of 2 GWh and room for expansion up to 8 GWh. The project is expected to begin mass production in mid-2026.

In the joint venture ownership structure, the U.S. distributor NeoVolta holds a controlling 60% stake, while LONGi and Jinkon Energy each hold 20%. NeoVolta will be responsible for product strategy, commercialization, and customer engagement. The joint venture’s governance will be managed through a five-member board of directors, with three members appointed by NeoVolta.

Through prior acquisitions, LONGi became a major shareholder of Jinkon Energy, which is part of its strategic expansion into the energy storage sector. LONGi’s involvement reflects a broader industry trend toward the integration of solar, energy storage, and comprehensive clean energy solutions. The three companies collectively combine NeoVolta’s market presence and product strategy in the U.S., Jinkon Energy’s BESS manufacturing expertise, and LONGi’s global scale and execution capabilities.

Industry insiders point out that this ownership structure also effectively avoids the subsidy restrictions under the U.S. Defense Production Act concerning “foreign entities of concern” while qualifying for the additional 10% tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for domestic manufacturing.

Initially, the factory will focus on the assembly of prismatic battery packs and the integration of DC containerized systems. It is reported that while NeoVolta previously targeted the residential market, the BESS produced in Georgia will be aimed at the utility-scale and commercial markets.
