On July 1, a groundbreaking achievement was published in the prestigious journal Nature Communications: LONGi Green Energy Technology, in collaboration with Lanzhou University, has developed a 350 cm² commercial-size back-contact (BC) silicon solar cell achieving 27.03% photoelectric conversion efficiency – setting a new world record for single-junction silicon solar cells.
This breakthrough also overcomes the long-standing industry challenge of low bifaciality, with the cell demonstrating an exceptional bifaciality factor exceeding 80%.
Key milestones:
- First silicon solar cell to surpass 27% efficiency at commercial size
- Bifacial performance breakthrough addresses a critical industry limitation
- Technology validated by world-leading academic journal
The achievement marks a significant leap forward in photovoltaic technology commercialization, potentially redefining the efficiency landscape for utility-scale solar applications.
