Over 9,000 Dutch Companies Await Grid Connection as Energy Storage Grows by 60% Annually

According to the latest disclosures from Dutch grid operators Enexis and Stedin, the Netherlands’ power grid is facing increasingly severe capacity bottlenecks, with the backlog of corporate users waiting for connection worsening and significantly impacting normal energy access and infrastructure development.

Surge in Corporate Power Demand Overloads the Grid
Enexis data shows that more than 9,000 businesses are currently waiting for new or higher-capacity power connections—an increase of over 1,000 compared to the previous year. Multiple regional grids are operating near or beyond safe capacity limits, with some nodes experiencing over 100% load. Enexis warns that the risk of system overloads and local failures is rapidly rising amid high demand and strained supply.
