On October 28th local time, the PV2 section of the Mooi 240 MW Solar PV Plant – the largest single-site solar power project in South Africa – completed installation, commissioning, and was successfully energized, marking a significant step towards operational power generation. The project is being constructed by a consortium of China Energy Engineering Group International Group and China Gezhouba Group Company Limited.
Since its commencement in March 2024, work has been progressing simultaneously across three plant sections: PV1, PV2, and PV3. According to the company, during the construction process, the project team faced numerous challenges. These included complex local approval procedures, differing technical standards, difficult geological conditions, frequent extreme weather events, coupled with the project’s massive scale and tight deadlines. In response, the project department quickly mobilized key personnel to deeply study local regulations and proactively communicated and coordinated with stakeholders, including the client and local communities. Adapting swiftly to the new environment, the team formulated highly detailed yet dynamically adjustable construction plans, breaking down tasks day-by-day and assigning responsibilities to individuals, ensuring the on-schedule completion of all milestone targets.
