Recently, China’s largest 750 kV ultra-high-voltage looped grid project was officially “closed,” marking the full completion of the 750 kV power transmission and transformation project around the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang (hereinafter referred to as the “Tianshan Ring Project”) after 15 years of construction. Stretching 4,197 kilometers in total, the project acts like a robust “power ring” installed around the Tarim Basin—China’s largest basin.
This breakthrough enables electricity—akin to a “blood supply”—to flow through multiple pathways, eliminating single-point bottlenecks that could cause “power shortages.” It ushers in a new era of secure and stable energy supply for the region.
