Trina Solar Interim Report: 32.2% Efficiency Achieved with 210mm Half-Cell Perovskite/Crystalline Silicon Tandem Solar Cells

Recently, Trina Solar released its interim report for the first half of 2025. The report shows that the company’s revenue for the period was RMB 31,056,102,660.20, a year-on-year decrease of 27.72%, while the net profit attributable to shareholders was RMB -2,917,636,498.76, down 654.47% compared to the same period last year.

In the field of perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem technology, Trina Solar has continued to make significant efforts, pioneering breakthroughs in multiple key technologies and repeatedly setting new world records this year. The company’s independently developed 210mm half-cell industrial-size perovskite/crystalline silicon two-terminal tandem solar cells have set successive world record efficiencies of 31.1% and 32.2%. Additionally, a laboratory tandem module with an integrated area of 1,185 cm² based on 210mm half-cell tandem technology achieved an efficiency of 30.6%, making Trina Solar the world’s first PV company to surpass the 30% efficiency milestone for tandem modules. This achievement has been officially included in the global solar cell efficiency records compilation Solar Cell Efficiency Tables (Version 66), edited by Professor Martin Green.

Trina Solar has also produced the world’s first industrial-standard-size perovskite/crystalline silicon two-terminal tandem module (area: 3.1 m²), with certified peak power outputs successively reaching 808W, 829W, and 841W, continuously setting and refreshing world records for power output of industrial-standard-size modules.

As the efficiency improvement space for crystalline silicon cells becomes increasingly limited, perovskite/crystalline silicon tandem technology can break through the physical efficiency limits of single-junction cells, with a theoretical efficiency potential of up to 43%. This technology is poised to become a major direction for the technological upgrade of the photovoltaic industry.
