On November 17, it was reported that Zenith Energy Ltd., through its Italian subsidiary WESOLAR S.R.L., has completed the acquisition of a 12MWp solar project in the Apulia region of Italy. The company also plans to construct a 3MW battery energy storage system (BESS) to support the project.
Apulia is one of Italy’s regions with the most abundant solar radiation. By July 2025, the cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity in the region had reached nearly 4GW. The excellent sunlight conditions ensure strong economic prospects for the project. Additionally, the project site features flat terrain, with approximately 15 hectares of land requiring minimal earthwork, which effectively reduces construction costs. The company has secured sufficient land to build the 12MWp ground-mounted solar power plant and will simultaneously deploy the 3MW energy storage system to optimize energy dispatch and enhance the stability of the local grid.
Transaction details reveal that the total acquisition price is €1.05 million, covering land rights related to the project. Payment will be made after all necessary approvals are obtained. Zenith Energy expects the project to take 12 to 16 months for preliminary preparations to reach “ready-to-build” status, a timeline consistent with the average approval process for solar projects in Italy.
Following this acquisition, Zenith Energy’s solar project portfolio in Italy has increased to a total capacity of 110.5MWp, strategically covering three key regions: Apulia, Piedmont, and Lazio. Lazio has a cumulative installed solar capacity of 3.8GW, while Piedmont, as a major industrial hub in the north, exhibits strong energy demand. The layout across these three regions creates complementary advantages. The company will adopt a dual-track model of “development and sale” alongside “self-building and operation,” enabling quick capital recovery through the transfer of some projects while retaining core assets for long-term power generation revenue.
