On the afternoon of July 16, 2025, reports emerged of a dramatic surge in solar wafer prices:
- 183mm wafers at 1.45 yuan/piece
- 210R wafers at 1.65 yuan/piece
- 210N wafers at 1.93 yuan/piece
This represents an increase of approximately 45%. Multiple media sources have confirmed the news, with at least two major wafer manufacturers already adopting these new prices. Industry analysts predict that subsequent price hikes will follow in the cell and module segments.
Current module pricing already shows divergence between tier-1 and tier-2/3 manufacturers:
- Distributed modules from tier-1 producers are now quoted at 0.70 yuan/W (up from 0.65 yuan/W previously)
- Tier-2/3 suppliers are offering prices about 0.05 yuan/W lower, creating a significant spread in the market.
