Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, recently announced that the country will hold tenders in November and December to allocate 2,000 megawatts of renewable energy capacity.
Speaking at the Turkish Wind Energy Congress 2025 (TWEC 2025) in İzmir, a province in the Aegean region, Bayraktar revealed that the tenders will cover 1,150 MW of wind power and 850 MW of solar PV. These will be conducted under Turkey’s Renewable Energy Resource Zone (YEKA) program.
In the wind power sector, Turkey will develop six projects with capacities ranging from 110 MW to 500 MW, located in the provinces of Sivas, Balıkesir, Aydın, Denizli, and Kütahya. For solar power, nine YEKA tenders will be held in the provinces of Elazığ, Kahramanmaraş, Erzurum, Bolu, Eskişehir, Mardin, and Van, with project capacities ranging from 40 MW to 260 MW.
