Global investment giant and local developer sign framework agreement to build a 1.5 GW solar-storage portfolio within three to five years.
Global investment firm Brookfield has entered into a joint investment framework agreement with Malaysian developer Solarvest to jointly develop, construct, and operate at least 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Malaysia over the next three to five years.
Under the agreement, Solarvest will leverage its local project development expertise in Malaysia. The company has developed over 2.3 GW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects domestically, including both completed and ongoing initiatives.
Both parties highlighted Malaysia’s renewable energy market as “robust and highly attractive,” driven by strong demand fundamentals and supportive policy frameworks, which were key factors in selecting the country for this collaboration.
