In response to a post by financial blog Zero Hedge about the U.S. power grid’s inability to meet the electricity demands of artificial intelligence, Musk stated that the solution is energy storage batteries. Musk wrote: “Batteries. The U.S. grid has ~1TWh of stable capacity, but average usage is ~0.5TWh. Run power plants at night to charge battery packs, then discharge the battery packs during the day to power AI.” “This would double the amount of electricity delivered per year,” he added.
