Another overseas 3GW photovoltaic module factory landed!

Waaree Energies recently announced that its subsidiary Sangam Solar One, located in Samakhiali, Kachi County, Gujarat, India, has successfully put into production 3GW of solar module capacity, further expanding its manufacturing advantages in India. It is reported that this new factory contains four single-line 750MW production lines and has officially started operation at 10 am on April 6, 2026.

this round of expansion is actually based on the capacity improvement plan in November 2025. prior to this, Sangam Solar One has built two 750MW component production lines in the factory, making the initial installed capacity here reach 1.5GW. In addition to the Samakhiali plant, Waaree Energies previously put into operation two 1050MW component production lines with a total installed capacity of 2.1GW at its factory in Degam Village, Navsari County, Gujarat State. The factory has been in operation as early as November 14, 2025.

With this addition of 3GW capacity, Waaree Energies added a total of 3.6GW of module manufacturing capacity at these two plants, further strengthening its position as India’s largest solar module manufacturer. The company currently has an operating production base in the United States.

At the same time, Waaree Energies disclosed in another regulatory document that the company has just won a one-time order to supply 500MW of solar modules to a photovoltaic developer under an independent power producer. The order is scheduled to be delivered in fiscal years 2026-2027. It is understood that this new order will further enrich the company’s order book, which currently totals about 600 billion rupees ($7.2 billion).

Capacity expansion also directly led to increased production. In the third quarter of 2025, due to capacity expansion and optimization of operating efficiency, Waaree Energies solar module production reached 3.51GW, while solar cell production reached 0.75GW. As a company that initially focused on component manufacturing, Waaree Energies has now become one of the most promising companies in the Indian photovoltaic market. Its business scope has already covered the entire photovoltaic industry chain, and has also extended to transformers, energy storage and other related fields.

The addition of 3GW module capacity in Gujarat not only effectively improves India’s local module supply capacity, but also helps shorten the procurement cycle of EPC links for centralized photovoltaic projects, reducing shipping risks and commercial operation day risks related to grid connection time frames. However, the factory’s subsequent operational effectiveness will also depend on the production yield and quality control level, including online electroluminescent testing, IV testing and other key defect control links.

This expansion also further enhances the resilience of the upper reaches of the Indian PV industry chain. With the large-scale promotion of the Indian PV and optical storage hybrid project, this initiative will help the local area to create higher local value in the PV industry chain and promote the further improvement of local traceable PV production capacity.
