On May 25, 2025, during the inaugural Global Corporate Summit for High-Quality Belt and Road Cooperation hosted by the United Nations Global Compact, JA Solar, alongside 23 other leading global solar supply chain firms including JinkoSolar, Tongwei Co., LONGi Green Energy, and GCL Group, jointly launched the Global Solar Sustainable Alliance (GSSA).

The event gathered high-level representatives from politics, business, and academia.

Li Jing, Brand Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of JA Solar, formally announced the initiative on behalf of the industry. Rooted in the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the GSSA outlines three core pillars and nine actionable priorities to advance ESG performance across the solar sector and its global market impact.
Li also introduced JA Solar’s “G2G Sustainability Philosophy” and its newly launched “Together Towards Tomorrow” responsible supply chain strategy, emphasizing collaborative growth among upstream-downstream stakeholders for a sustainable future.
As the global energy transition accelerates, the solar sector stands as a cornerstone of renewable energy, critical for combating climate change and achieving carbon neutrality. Amid rapid industry expansion, leading firms launched the GSSA to address social and environmental challenges, committing to strengthen supply chain sustainability, promote green mineral sourcing, protect ecosystems, foster inclusive growth, and build equitable societies while delivering clean energy worldwide.
The initiative received strong endorsement from the summit’s organizers. Liu Meng, UN Global Compact Representative in China, stated: “We commend the global solar industry, particularly Chinese firms, for their contributions to energy transition. This alliance aligns closely with the UNGC’s principles, underscoring corporate responsibility in environmental stewardship, human rights, and governance. We anticipate the solar sector will set a benchmark for global sustainability through collective action.”
