T1 Energy (formerly Freyr Battery) has announced a long-term supply agreement with materials science giant Corning Inc., aiming to establish a vertically integrated, localized solar manufacturing chain—from polysilicon to modules.
Under the agreement, Corning will supply purified polysilicon and solar wafers, produced at its Michigan manufacturing campus, to T1 Energy’s solar cell facility (G2 Austin) in Austin, Texas, starting in the second half of 2026. These wafers will be processed into TOPCon solar cells at the Austin plant before being shipped to T1’s G1 facility in Dallas (formerly Trina Solar’s assets) for final module assembly.
