LONGi refreshes efficiency of indium-free HJT cells to 25.40%

Only a few days after breaking a world record of 25.47% for the efficiency of gallium-doped p-type heterojunction (HJT) cells, LONGi has set yet another record of 25.40% for its indium-free HJT cells using the M6 wafer size. The new record was confirmed by the Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hamelin (ISFH).

Based on the surface passivation technique developed by LONGi’s R&D team, the record-breaking HJT cell adopted a low-cost indium-free material to make transparent conductive films. With improved techniques, the solar cell can maintain a relatively high conversion efficiency without using any indium.

The highly efficient indium-free HJT cells can reduce the industry’s reliance on indium for mass production, while greatly lowering manufacturing costs.

In 2021, LONGi has broken efficiency records for solar cells for seven times. It is leading the world in the conversion efficiency of n-type TOPCon, p-type TOPCon and n-type heterojunction cells.
