Austrian renewable energy developer Enery has announced that it will commence construction early next year on the 534MWac (750MWp) Ogrezeni solar power plant in Giurgiu County, Romania. The project, which includes a co-located 534MW/1068MWh battery energy storage system, is currently the most advanced large-scale solar project in Romania.
Reportedly, the project secured its Grid Connection Technical Permit (ATR) over a year ago. To achieve grid connection, Enery will construct a new 400kV substation, linking to the grid via the national transmission system operator Transelectrica. Commercial operation is expected in the fourth quarter of 2027. Gavrilă described it as the company’s “crown jewel” and, on a national level, one of the largest projects of its kind in the region. Notably, the project will be built in a single phase, a first for Romania.
This project is the largest among solar projects currently under development in Romania and ranks second among all planned projects. The only larger project is the 1044MW solar farm in Arad County, developed by Czech company Rezolv Energy, but its progress is delayed, with operations expected only in the third quarter of 2028.
