Thailand Attracts Over THB 560B in Clean Energy Investments Over a Decade

According to a report by the Thai newspaper The Nation on the 19th, over the past 10 years, more than 2,900 clean energy investment projects have been established in Thailand, with a total investment exceeding THB 560 billion (approximately RMB 119.15 billion), propelling Thailand to become a clean energy hub in ASEAN.

Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary-General of the Thai Board of Investment, revealed that Thailand is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero emissions by 2065. Under its clean energy development plan, the country aims to increase the share of clean energy to over 50% of total power generation by 2050 to support its green industry transformation.

Currently, clean energy accounts for 26% of Thailand’s installed power capacity. According to the Sustainable Development Goals Index, Thailand ranks first among ASEAN countries as the fastest-growing nation in clean energy development.

Clean energy reserves are a key advantage in attracting foreign investment. Thailand supports this transition by promoting clean energy projects and building a sustainable energy ecosystem, helping to mitigate future energy crisis risks.

From 2015 to March 2025, over 2,900 clean energy projects have been submitted for investment attraction, totaling more than THB 560 billion, including: more than 80 waste-to-energy projects with a total investment of approximately THB 110 billion; over 2,800 renewable energy (solar, wind, biomass, biogas, etc.) projects with a total investment of approximately THB 320 billion; and more than 30 other clean energy projects with a total investment of approximately THB 120 billion.

Additionally, Thailand is promoting the transition of over 2,400 projects with a total investment exceeding THB 220 billion towards renewable energy, supporting a green supply chain from upstream to downstream. This move will increase opportunities, reduce risks, and enhance Thailand’s competitiveness in the sustainable business sector.
