BYD Energy Storage Signs Landmark Supply Agreement with Grenergy for 3.5 GWh Energy Storage Systems in Latin America

Recently, BYD Energy Storage and Grenergy, a globally renowned renewable energy company, signed an energy storage order agreement for the supply of 3.5 GWh of energy storage systems for Phase VI of Grenergy’s Atacama Oasis project in northern Chile. Previously, BYD Energy Storage had already supplied 3 GWh of energy storage systems for the first three phases of the project, bringing the total collaboration volume between the two parties to 6.5 GWh.

This cooperation agreement marks the largest energy storage supply deal in Latin America, symbolizing the deepening partnership between BYD Energy Storage and Grenergy. It also highlights the global recognition of BYD Energy Storage’s leading technology, outstanding delivery capabilities, comprehensive after-sales support system, and all-round comprehensive strength.

According to the agreement, BYD Energy Storage will provide Grenergy with 624 units of the MC Cube-T BESS for the Elena photovoltaic and energy storage power station. The Elena station is a crucial component of the Atacama Oasis project, boasting 446 MW of photovoltaic capacity and 3.5 GWh of energy storage capacity. BYD Energy Storage’s MC Cube-T BESS adopts CTS (Cell-to-System) super integration technology, directly integrating blade batteries into the energy storage system. This significantly enhances space utilization by 98%, with a Vcts (Volume ratio of Cell to System) index exceeding 33%. The system offers advantages such as easy layout, installation, maintenance, capacity expansion, and transportation, providing a highly secure, well-protected, durable, and operationally efficient energy storage solution for the large-scale, complex, and challenging Atacama Oasis project. The MC Cube-T BESS also features a modular compartment design, cluster-level safety protection, and precise temperature control management, making it suitable for extreme “desert-gobi” application scenarios with wide temperature ranges and strong sandstorms. BYD Energy Storage is breaking geographical limits through technological innovation, offering a “desert solution” for the global energy transition.

The Atacama Desert, with the world’s strongest solar radiation resources and innovative energy storage technologies, is transforming from a geographical extreme into an energy powerhouse. The Atacama Oasis project is one of the world’s largest electrochemical energy storage projects, with a total energy storage capacity of 11 GWh. David Ruiz de Andrés, CEO of Grenergy, stated at the signing ceremony, “This agreement solidifies our leadership position in the energy storage sector. The total installed capacity of the Atacama Oasis project has surpassed that of countries like the UK and Germany, becoming a benchmark for 24/7 clean energy supply.”
