National Energy Administration: Green Electricity Trading Volume Increases by 43.2% Year-on-Year

In July 2025, China’s electricity market trading volume reached 624.6 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%. Among this, intra-provincial trading volume amounted to 461.4 billion kilowatt-hours, up 7.3% year-on-year, while inter-provincial and inter-regional trading volume reached 163.2 billion kilowatt-hours, reflecting a 7.9% year-on-year growth. Notably, green electricity trading volume surged to 25.6 billion kilowatt-hours, marking a significant 43.2% year-on-year increase.

From January to July 2025, the cumulative electricity market trading volume nationwide reached 3.59 trillion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year growth of 3.2%. This accounted for 61.2% of the total electricity consumption in society, though this proportion decreased by 0.9 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Intra-provincial trading volume totaled 2.73 trillion kilowatt-hours, up 1.6% year-on-year, while inter-provincial and inter-regional trading volume reached 855.8 billion kilowatt-hours, representing a 9% year-on-year increase. Green electricity trading volume during this period amounted to 181.7 billion kilowatt-hours, soaring by 42.1% year-on-year.
