Astronergy Supplies 150MW Sonnedix Covatillas Solar Project in Spain

Bathed in the ocean breezes of the Iberian Peninsula, the Spanish Sonnedix Covatillas 1,5&6 150MW solar project, fully supplied with photovoltaic modules by Astronergy, is generating powerful green energy. Located in Villanueva, Cuenca Province, Spain, the solar plant has a total installed capacity of 150MW. It can provide approximately 300 million kWh of clean electricity annually, meeting the electricity needs of about 71,000 households and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 108,000 tons each year.

For this project, Astronergy supplied over 270,000 high-efficiency ASTRO series bifacial dual-glass modules. Leveraging their high power output, excellent bifacial performance, and outstanding weather resistance, these modules effectively ensure the stable operation of the power plant under complex environmental conditions, enhancing the project’s power generation efficiency throughout its entire lifecycle.

The Spanish Covatillas 150MW solar project was developed and constructed by the internationally renowned renewable energy developer Sonnedix. It is one of Sonnedix’s largest solar project clusters currently under construction in Spain. Construction began in February 2025, and the project was successfully connected to the grid in June, boosting Sonnedix’s total operational solar capacity in Spain to over 1GW.
