On February 5, 2026, Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) announced that its energy storage solutions subsidiary, e-STORAGE, has reached a cooperation agreement with Sunraycer, a leading clean energy power plant developer in the United States. e-STORAGE will provide energy storage systems and long-term operation and maintenance services for two independent energy storage projects located in Texas, USA. With a total project scale of 503 MWh (DC), this agreement marks a further deepening of the Canadian Solar Group’s presence in the North American energy storage market.
Leading Project Scale to Support Texas’ Clean Energy Transition
The collaborative project, named the “Lupinus” project, is being developed by Sunraycer and will be constructed in two phases:
- Lupinus I: Scale of 202 MWh. Construction is expected to commence in Q1 2027, with commercial operation targeted for Q3 2027.
- Lupinus II: Scale of 301 MWh. Construction is planned to start in Q3 2026, with commercial operation scheduled for Q2 2027.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market is one of the fastest-growing and most dynamic energy storage markets in North America. The “Lupinus” project will play a significant role in the local electricity market, supporting the integration of renewable energy and enhancing grid stability, thereby providing strong support for building a more flexible and resilient power system.
