Trina Solar: No Cooperation with SpaceX

On February 5, Trina Solar (SH:688599) issued an announcement. The company responded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange E-Interactive platform to an investor’s question regarding “whether the company has a cooperative relationship with SpaceX.” To safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of its investors, the company provided supplementary clarification on the related business situation and issued a risk warning.

The announcement pointed out that, upon verification, Trina Solar supplied a total of 775MW of modules to the North American customer Tesla Motors and its predecessor SolarCity between 2010 and 2018. No further business cooperation has been conducted with them since. As of now, the company has not engaged in any cooperation with SpaceX, nor has it signed any framework agreements or formal agreements, and there are no outstanding orders.

Currently, Trina Solar’s photovoltaic module products are primarily applied in the ground-mounted photovoltaic sector. The main application scenarios of its core products have not undergone significant changes. Trina Solar’s photovoltaic products and system solutions business maintains its industry-leading position due to its diversified business structure, profound technological expertise, strong brand influence, and comprehensive global channel layout. As of the date of this announcement disclosure, Trina Solar has no relevant order revenue involving “space photovoltaics,” and this has not impacted the company’s operating performance.

Finally, Trina Solar included a risk warning in the announcement: Recently, capital markets have shown heightened interest in concepts such as “space photovoltaics,” with relatively active secondary market performance in related sectors. Currently, “space photovoltaics” remains in the preliminary stage of technological exploration and ground verification. Its industrialization process still faces significant uncertainty due to various factors including technological development, industry policies, and market conditions.
