Recently, JinkoSolar signed a 124MW supply agreement for its high-efficiency Tiger Neo 3.0 photovoltaic modules with a well-established energy developer in the UK. The entire order will be utilized for large-scale ground-mounted power plant projects within the UK, marking another significant achievement for JinkoSolar as it deepens its presence in the British photovoltaic market and contributes to Europe’s energy transition.
As one of the earliest markets globally to achieve grid parity for photovoltaic power, the UK has consistently intensified its renewable energy deployment in recent years, accelerating the transformation of its energy structure. However, the local climate, characterized by frequent overcast and rainy conditions throughout the year and relatively moderate light resources, combined with ground-mounted projects’ ultimate pursuit of lower Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) and long-term reliability, imposes stringent requirements on the comprehensive performance of photovoltaic modules. Data indicates that cloudy and rainy days account for as much as 85% of the year in the UK, with suboptimal light conditions for most of the time. Addressing these specific challenges, the Tiger Neo 3.0 modules signed in this agreement precisely meet the deep-seated needs of UK ground-mounted plants through four core advantages based on N-type TOPCon technology:
Superior Low-Light Response, Boosting Power Generation Across All Time Periods
Targeting the UK’s frequent rainy and cloudy weather and dispersed light resources, the Tiger Neo 3.0 modules possess excellent low-light power generation performance, maintaining 95%-98% relative power output even under low irradiance conditions. This means that during early mornings, evenings, and cloudy weather, the modules can maximize the capture of scattered light, effectively extending the plant’s effective power generation hours and significantly enhancing the project’s lifetime revenue.
High Power Density Design, Overcoming Land Resource Constraints
Given the precious nature of land resources in the UK, large-scale power plants need to achieve higher installed capacity on limited land. The Tiger Neo 3.0 modules achieve a maximum efficiency exceeding 24.8% and offer front-side power output ranging from 650W to 670W. Thanks to their higher power density per unit area, they can increase installation scale on the same land area, reduce Balance of System (BOS) costs such as those for mounting structures, cables, and installation, and help the project achieve a more optimal LCOE.
Lifetime Reliability Assurance, Aligning with Long-Term Plant Revenue Goals
The Tiger Neo 3.0 modules are built upon a rigorous quality control system and have passed enhanced tests like salt mist and ammonia resistance, enabling them to confidently withstand harsh environments such as high humidity and strong winds common in UK coastal areas. Furthermore, with first-year degradation of less than 1% and a linear degradation rate of only -0.35%, coupled with a 30-year linear power warranty, the modules guarantee stable and efficient operation throughout the plant’s entire lifecycle, providing investors with predictable returns.
This successful contract signing not only reflects the deep mutual trust between JinkoSolar and its UK partner but also signifies strong global market recognition of the Tiger Neo 3.0 module as a preferred solution for ground-mounted power plants. Leveraging outstanding product performance and a comprehensive service system, JinkoSolar will continue to contribute Chinese expertise and solutions to the global carbon neutrality process through efficient, safe, and economical products.
