On April 6, 2026, the 50 MW photothermal project of China General Nuclear Power Tibet Wumatang, the world’s highest trough-type photothermal power station, officially started construction in Wumatang Township, Dangxiong County, Lhasa City. The site is 4550 meters above sea level. The project has simultaneously realized the first commercial application of the 8.6-meter large open slot collector with completely independent intellectual property rights in China, and is equipped with a 6-hour molten salt heat storage device, which can realize continuous power generation at night and flexible peak shaving, providing stable and reliable clean power support for Tibet Power Grid.
