The International Finance Corporation (IFC) announced plans to provide up to US $0.125 billion in loan support for a semiconductor-grade polysilicon production project in Malaysia. After the completion of the project, it will become the first high-purity polysilicon production base in Southeast Asia.

It is learned that the loan funds will be provided to OCI TerraSus Sdn. Bhd. Company. The company is a subsidiary of OCI, a Korean polysilicon company, and is currently working with Japanese chemical company Tsuyama (Tokuyama Corporation) to jointly build this polysilicon factory.
The plant is located in the Samalaju Industrial Park in Sarawak, Borneo, and construction officially started in July last year. The planned production capacity of the project is 10000 tons, and the total investment is about 0.435 billion US dollars.
