However, in a ravine in Fushun Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County, the country’s first model of compressed air mixed energy storage technology-Liaoshui Xinneng Fushun 100MW/400MWh compressed air + flywheel energy storage demonstration project, made it lively early.
Standing on the high slope, the words “air energy storage, green endurance” on the top of the side wall of the mountain are fresh and eye-catching. “The construction officially started on December 30 last year,” Tong Jiayan, general manager of Liaoshui Group New Energy Development Company, introduced the construction progress. “The procurement of core equipment, detailed geological survey, and preliminary design are advancing simultaneously. At present, all construction teams and equipment have entered the site.”

The energy storage project itself is built on the construction of the project. Although it is cold outside, the temperature in the cave is very good, and the relevant work can be done in advance.” One side, the company’s deputy general manager Fushun project leader Li Xiaohan explained. When entering the cave down the mountain, the roadway was bright, the pipelines were regular, the fans and drilling rigs rumbled, and Li Xiaohan raised his voice. “Now, the construction of the survey control network, the supporting works of the tunnel and the water retaining cofferdam has been completed.”

air energy storage is a large-scale and long-term physical energy storage. many people vividly call it “air version super charging treasure”, generally speaking, it is to compress air into high-pressure storage at the trough of electricity consumption and release it to generate electricity at the peak. This energy storage method is highly dependent on geological conditions, and the construction difficulty is not small. The use of construction adit of water conservancy projects to build underground gas storage is the first case in the country, and it is the first artificial chamber compressed air energy storage project that I started construction.
No precedent means great difficulties, why is Liaoshui Group “biased towards Tiger Mountain?” In this regard, Liaoshui Group Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Manager Jin Zhaohui said, “This is not only the initiative of state-owned enterprises to fulfill the national strategic mission, but also according to local conditions to develop new quality productivity, break through the traditional growth path of powerful exploration.”
In recent years, the proportion of new energy installed in our province has continued to rise, and the gap in the flexible adjustment of resources in the power grid is also expanding. The problem of high volatility when the high proportion of new energy is connected to the grid restricts Industrial development. After the completion of various energy storage projects, it can greatly improve the peak adjustment and frequency modulation capacity of the power grid. To this end, Liaoshui Group relies on the confidence of many years of deep cultivation of water conservancy project construction and the ability to co-ordinate resources in the whole area, to run the “water conservancy + energy” integration development track, to lay out the clean energy sector, and to help our province optimize the energy structure.
“‘Fushun project’ is the exploration of enterprises in the direction of new industries.” Tong Jiayan said that the total investment of the project is 0.928 billion yuan, supporting the construction of 220kV booster station, gas storage volume of more than 116900 cubic meters, full power generation for 4 hours, cycle power efficiency of 67.8. It is planned to be connected to the grid in the first half of 2028 to promote the new industry as the core growth pole of the Group’s clean energy sector. “In addition, in the field of traditional industries, the group takes the Chaoyang Yanshan Lake pumped storage project as the core, deploys large-scale and intelligent pumped storage projects, and builds a regional energy peak shaving core hub. the Yanshan lake project has a total installed capacity of 1 million kilowatts and a total investment of about 9.1 billion yuan. it consists of the upper reservoir, the lower reservoir and the underground water transmission and power generation system, with a designed annual power generation capacity of about 2 billion kilowatt hours. After completion, it will have six core functions of peak shaving, valley filling, energy storage, frequency modulation, phase modulation and emergency backup, which can accurately stabilize the intermittency and volatility of wind power and photovoltaic, and solve the bottleneck problem of regional new energy consumption capacity, which can be called the “stabilizer” of western Liaoning power grid “. This will not only promote the agglomeration of the whole industrial chain of “pumped storage + scenery new energy + energy storage equipment manufacturing” in the region, but also promote the transformation of resource-based cities and the upgrading of regional industries, which can save about 600000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.5 million tons every year. It is a green and efficient clean energy benchmarking project.
The construction steps of Liaoshui Group are precisely one of the practices of our province to coordinate the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries and the cultivation and growth of strategic emerging industries during the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” period, and to shape new advantages of clean energy. During the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, our province will improve the planning and layout of wind power and photovoltaics, actively lay out new energy storage, and at the same time accelerate the construction of smart grids and microgrids, and build a sea-land integrated AC/DC flexible hybrid grid to vigorously develop the clean energy equipment industry. In this context, the clean energy sector of Liaoshui Group will also take the development idea of “being happy according to water, comprehensive layout, and integrating inside and outside”. By 2030, it will achieve total assets of 5 billion yuan, operating income of 0.4 billion yuan, total profits of 0.15 billion yuan, and new energy installed capacity of 1.6 million kilowatts (1 million kilowatts of new wind power and energy storage installed capacity).
