300 MW/1200 MWh! Another independent energy storage power station project successfully connected to the grid

recently, Wuwei huajing pilot 300MW/1200MWh independent energy storage power station project, located in jiudun beach photovoltaic sand control demonstration park in Liangzhou district, was announced to be successfully connected to the grid, marking a solid step forward in building a new power system, promoting green and low-carbon energy transformation and promoting industrial chain supplement chain extension, and also providing key technical support for local power grid peak regulation, new energy consumption and new power system construction.

Zhang Tao, project manager of 300MW/1200MWh independent energy storage power station of Wuwei huajing pilot power co., ltd., told reporters:” the 300MW/1200MWh independent energy storage power station project in Liangzhou district of Wuwei city is invested and constructed by Wuwei huajing pilot power co., ltd. The project started construction on August 1, 2025. With the strong support of the municipal and district governments and the power grid, the project was successfully connected to the grid on March 31, 2026. Currently, commissioning of the energy storage area and the subsequent grid-connection tests are underway in full swing. Commercial operation is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2026.

it is understood that the project covers an area of 98.43 mu and has a total investment of 1.368 billion yuan. the project includes 60 sets of 5MW/20MWh energy storage units, each of which consists of 1 set of 5MW PCS boost converter and 4 sets of 5MWh energy storage battery containers.

the project uses 12 circuits of 35 kv collection lines to connect to the 35 kv side of the newly-built 330 kv energy storage booster station, and synchronously support electrical equipment such as transformers, HGIS, lightning arresters, high voltage switch cabinets, SVG cabinets, communication cabinets, and auxiliary equipment such as lighting, ventilation, pump gates, etc. The battery cells are lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, designed for a 20-year operational lifespan with a cycle life of no fewer than 6,000 cycles.

After the project is officially put into operation, it will accept the unified dispatch of Gansu power grid, which is mainly used for power grid peak regulation and frequency regulation, emergency standby power supply and other auxiliary services, which will greatly improve the allocation space of new energy power generation and play a positive role in promoting the consumption of new energy in the region, reducing the load pressure of the power grid, maintaining the stable operation of the power grid and helping to ensure energy supply, at the same time, it also provides important demonstration and practical support for building a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.
