LONGi Partners with Singapore’s Vanda RE to Supply 1GW Modules for 2GW Indonesia Solar-Storage Project, Accelerating Southeast Asia’s Green Corridor

Singapore-based renewable energy developer Vanda RE Pte. Ltd. has announced a landmark framework supply agreement with global solar technology leader LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Under the deal, LONGi will provide 1 gigawatt (GW) of high-efficiency solar photovoltaic (PV) modules for Vanda RE’s 2GW solar-plus-storage project in Indonesia’s Riau Islands. This initiative, a cornerstone of the Indonesia-Singapore Green Economy Corridor, aims to meet Indonesia’s local content requirements (TKDN) and strengthen regional clean energy supply chains.

The Vanda RE project, featuring 2GW of solar capacity and a 4.4GWh battery energy storage system (BESS), will rank among Southeast Asia’s largest integrated solar-storage facilities upon completion. As a flagship project of the Indonesia-Singapore Green Economy Corridor, it will supply cross-border clean electricity to Singapore, and drive Indonesia’s transition into a regional clean technology hub through technology transfer, local equipment sourcing, and green job creation.

“Partnering with LONGi marks a critical step in Vanda RE’s mission to accelerate energy transition in Asia,” said Enda Ginting, Indonesia Country Manager at Gurīn Energy (a Vanda RE affiliate). “By attracting multinational investments in local supply chains, the project significantly reduces renewable energy development costs in Indonesia and fosters a competitive investment environment for green industries.”

Frank Zhao, President of LONGi’s Asia-Pacific Region, emphasized: “This collaboration exemplifies not just technological prowess but also a model for public-private partnerships advancing carbon neutrality. By meeting TKDN requirements, we support Indonesia’s domestic industrial growth while setting a benchmark for ASEAN cross-border energy cooperation.”

This 1GW order follows a series of large-scale module supply agreements disclosed by LONGi since March 2025. In March, LONGi signed a strategic partnership in Paris with global energy group ENGIE and Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) to supply over 1GW of its upgraded Hi-MO 9 modules. This collaboration aims to advance renewable energy targets in the Middle East and Africa, accelerating the region’s clean energy transition.

Indonesia’s government recently slashed renewable energy investment tax rates from 22% to 10% and targets 23% clean energy penetration by 2025. Analysts highlight the synergy between Vanda RE’s localization model and policy incentives:

  • Technology Licensing: Collaborations with local firms enable domestic production of solar equipment components.
  • Cross-Border Grid Integration: Singapore, as an electricity off-taker, will leverage the project to optimize regional energy mixes.
