China’s Photovoltaic Exports Start Steady

Since 2026, China’s exports of photovoltaic products have shown a positive trend. Data show that in the first two months, China’s exports of photovoltaic products were 4.29 billion billion US dollars, an increase of 4.1 per cent over the same period last year.

Behind this steady start, it is inseparable from the positive actions of Chinese photovoltaic companies to accelerate the expansion of overseas markets. In February, Trina Tracking reached a cooperation with Spanish EPC to provide a total of 360MW intelligent tracking system solutions for its two major photovoltaic projects in Spain. From March 4th to 6th, Chint New Energy and ASTRO N series products were unveiled at the 19th Italian International Renewable Energy Exhibition held at the Rimini Convention and Exhibition Center in Italy, attracting many customers with its innovative technology and efficient green energy solutions. The attention of merchants. On March 10, Dongfang Risheng’s Fuxi series of high-efficiency heterojunction modules, iCon series of industrial and commercial liquid-cooled energy storage integrated machines and “Shengqi” industrial and commercial optical storage integrated solutions displayed at the 2026 Netherlands Solar Photovoltaic Exhibition held in Amsterdam were recognized by on-site merchants for accurately meeting the local market demand.

From mature markets in Europe to resource highlands in the Middle East, and then to the Asia-Pacific diversified region, Chinese photovoltaic companies are actively expanding their overseas business with keen market insight and flexible layout strategies.

enterprises deeply cultivate diversified territory

in the European market, Chinese photovoltaic enterprises are transforming from simple product export to technology export and localization service. For example, Trina Tracking reached a cooperation with Spanish EPC in February. Aiming at the complex geological conditions with obvious stratification and large differentiation in the local area, Trina Tracking’s global engineering and technical team cooperated closely with Spanish EPC engineering team. On the basis of joint technical evaluation and optimization of pile foundation length and type configuration, the direct piling and pre-drilling areas were reasonably divided to make the construction scheme better match the actual site conditions on the premise of ensuring structural safety, ensure that the project is still efficient and reliable in complex conditions.

This model of deep cultivation of the whole chain from technology to service is being replicated and extended in many places in the European market. Chint Xinneng has been deeply cultivated in Italy for many years, relying on stable and reliable product delivery capabilities and localized professional service system, it has won the recognition and trust of customers in the Italian market. At present, Chint Xinneng is actively building a local ecological cooperation system, with local distributors, installers and photovoltaic industry associations, professional institutions to carry out in-depth communication and close cooperation, for the company in the Italian market long-term deep cultivation and continuous expansion to build a solid foundation.

With abundant solar energy resources, the Middle East is becoming an important growth pole for photovoltaic enterprises’ capacity layout and scene innovation. For example, at the recent World Future Energy Summit (WFES), Trina Solar signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Haala Energy, a photovoltaic developer and installer in Saudi Arabia. According to the agreement, Haala Energy will build two complementary agricultural projects for the farms of Bateel, a well-known Saudi date palm brand, with a total installed capacity of about 1.8 megawatts peak (MWp). The project will use Trine Solar’s efficient components, intelligent tracking system and automated cleaning equipment to improve power generation efficiency and optimize operation and maintenance costs through software and hardware co-design, and at the same time, through efficient layout on the original farmland, to achieve a friendly coexistence with the agricultural production environment. The cooperation with Haala Energy is an important measure for Trine Solar to deepen its market layout in the Middle East and Africa.

Not only Trina Solar, Chint Xinneng is also actively expanding its business in the Middle East. From January 13 to 15, Chint New Energy signed a 20 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic project with Yemeni energy company ATG during the 18th World Future Energy Summit and Exhibition in Abu Dhabi. It is understood that Yemen is rich in solar energy resources, but the climate and environment are complex, which puts forward extremely high requirements for the reliability and environmental adaptability of components. ATG chose Chint Xinneng as the component supplier, which is based on the recognition of its product performance and quality.

In the Asia-Pacific market, Chinese companies implement precise policies for different national policy cycles and application scenarios. In the face of Japan’s market-oriented transition period after the termination of the fixed-price acquisition system (FIT/FIP) in 2027, the four core products exhibited by Chint Xinneng during the Japan International Smart Energy Week in March cover all-round multiple application scenarios such as ground power stations, industry and commerce, and household use, helping local enterprises to seize the opportunity during the policy switching window. In the Southeast Asian market, Oriental Sunrise and Malaysia’s Eco Persona Company also recently signed a contract to jointly develop industrial and commercial rooftop photovoltaic projects in the four states of North Malaysia. The project will give priority to the use of Oriental Sunrise High Power Heterojunction (HJT) components, string inverters and industrial and commercial energy storage cabinets to build an integrated optical storage system for efficient power generation, helping Eco Persona to achieve higher power generation efficiency and lower power costs in industrial and commercial roof scenarios.

Export volume will continue to grow

Since the beginning of this year, the multi-point export market layout has promoted the steady expansion of the export scale of China’s photovoltaic products. The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products pointed out that in 2026, China’s photovoltaic export volume is expected to continue to grow. At the same time, the trend of market diversification, high-end products, cooperation integration, and normalization of compliance will be further deepened.

In terms of export scale, the general trend of global energy transformation remains unchanged, the demand of traditional markets such as Europe and the United States remains stable, and the demand of emerging markets such as the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa continues to grow, providing broad space for the industry. The export market distribution of Chinese enterprises will be more balanced, and the localization layout will be accelerated. The China Chamber of Commerce of Electrical and Mechanical Services predicts that the proportion of overseas production capacity of Chinese photovoltaic enterprises will be further increased in 2026, and enterprises will be deeply integrated into the regional industrial chain by setting up branches, warehousing and logistics centers and production bases overseas. Product structure to high-end, green upgrade to become the main theme. The export proportion of high-efficiency components will be further increased, the export growth rate of products with higher added value, such as integrated optical storage products and intelligent photovoltaic systems, will expand, and products with low-carbon and excellent environmental performance will be more favored by the market.

At the same time, the sea mode will also be upgraded from a single product trade to a full-chain solution. Chinese companies will provide overseas customers with full-process services covering project design, product supply, installation and commissioning, and operation and maintenance services. The added value of cooperation has increased significantly.

The person in charge of China Mechanical and Electrical Chamber of Commerce specifically pointed out that compliance management capabilities will become the core competitiveness of enterprises. Facing the increasingly stringent global carbon footprint, raw material traceability, local content and other requirements, enterprises need to establish a sound compliance management system and strengthen supply chain risk management and control. Industry organizations will continue to promote domestic standards in line with international standards and help enterprises deal with trade barriers.
