Week in China: Trina Solar achieved new record efficiency of 23.03% and released new 510 W Vertex module

Chinese module maker Trina Solar has recently announced to have achieved a power conversion efficiency of 23.03% for a monocrystalline p-type module based on 66 PERC cells with a size of 210×210 mm. Trina Solar said its scientists developed a new Multi-Musbar (MBB) technology to improve optical shading, and developed a new hybrid soldering technology to minimize the gap between cells, without providing further details. Trina Solar has also launched a new Vertex solar module with a power output of 510 W, which relies on PERC cells with a size of 210mm and features an efficiency of 21.2%.

China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) has attempted to move the dial on small scale PV in the nation by asking its provincial offices to nominate counties where a trial program to push blanket rooftop solar can be carried out. The state entity wants selected counties to have at least 20% of all residential rooftops equipped with solar, as well as at least 30% of commercial and industrial structures; 40% of non-government public buildings, such as hospital and schools; and half of the roofs on the government estate. China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) said the new policy regulates the trade in rooftop electricity under the terms originally suggested three years ago, in a move which could unleash a wave of distributed solar in the world’s biggest PV market.

Growatt achieved a great success in the Americas last year, being honored with “Top Brand PV Inverters” awards for the US, Brazil, Mexico and the Americas. Growatt has also introduced its MIN 3000-11400TL-XH US hybrid inverter and ARO lithium battery into the United States to offer customers safe and reliable solar energy storage solution. In addition, Growatt provides off-grid energy storage solutions in the Americas, in which it brings up with SPF off-grid inverter series and ARK battery with modular and stackable design for 120V and 240V applications.
