On April 10, the groundbreaking ceremony of Cambodia’s Shangdai Pumped Storage Project was held in Cambodia, marking the official start of the project and laying a solid foundation for the construction and operation of the power station and the creation of a “golden model” for energy cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong region. This is also the first pumped storage power station for overseas technical cooperation in energy storage of China Southern Network. shangdadai energy storage project is a landmark project of “the belt and road initiative” Sino-Cambodian cooperation and has been included in the list of key projects in the third round of Sino-Cambodian production capacity and investment cooperation. During the third “Belt and Road Initiative” International Cooperation Summit Forum in 2023, the prime ministers of China and Cambodia witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on project cooperation, which was included in the list of 23 power projects implemented by the Cambodian government (2025-2029). The project is invested and constructed by China Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. and Nanwang Lanmei International Company, with an installed capacity of 1000MW(4 × 250MW). It is located in the Dadai River Basin in Kogon Province, Cambodia and is mainly composed of upper reservoir, water transmission and power generation system and lower reservoir. After the project is completed and put into operation, it will help optimize the power supply structure of Cambodia, promote the green and low-carbon transformation of energy, and provide great assistance to the development of local people’s livelihood and the construction of an all-weather community with a shared future between China and Cambodia.
In the early stage of the project, Nanwang Energy Storage Company actively based on its own advantages and cooperated with the owner to carry out special consulting services for the feasibility study stage, including site survey, feasibility study review, feasibility study internal and external review, power station three core agreements internal and external review and other related work, research and put forward feasibility study design optimization opinions, plant interlayer problem treatment plan and other professional suggestions, during which more than 20 people were sent to the project site to participate in the work, contributing positive force to the steady progress of the project. After the start of the project, the South Network energy storage will further give full play to its professional advantages, actively participate in the project construction consulting management and other related work, promote the early completion and commissioning of the project, and help to build overseas high-quality pumping and storage projects.
