If you are promoting distributed photovoltaic projects in Guangdong, there are three things that may have given you a headache:
First, is your project type right? Agricultural and optical complementarity, fishing and optical complementarity, small ground power stations-from May 1, 2025, these projects are no longer allowed to be connected to the grid in the name of distributed photovoltaic, and projects after that day must go through the centralized channel for re-approval.
Secondly, can the region where your project is located be merged? On March 24, 2026, the Energy Bureau of Guangdong Province just released the list of difficulties in the first quarter of 2026-7 cities, 26 counties (cities, districts) and 224 towns (streets) are restricted. Moreover, this list is updated dynamically. Maoming and Qingyuan are new entrants, while Jiangmen and Yangjiang have withdrawn. You need to check the latest issue, not the data a year ago.
Third, have you noticed the red line for self-use? The new management method is clear: for projects involving self-use, users and photovoltaic devices must be within the red line of the same land. The Guangdong provincial implementation opinion also stipulates that the annual spontaneous self-use proportion of agricultural construction projects shall not be less than 30%. Not allowed outside the red line, no flex space.
These three questions are the easiest place to step on the pit in Guangdong’s distributed photovoltaic grid connection, and they are also the key questions answered in this report.
