Recently, Indian solar PV module manufacturer Gautam Solar announced an investment of 10 billion INR ($119 million) to establish a solar cell manufacturing plant with an annual capacity of 2 GW.
Gautam Solar’s CEO, Gautam Mohanka, stated: “Our upcoming 2 GW solar cell manufacturing plant aligns with MNRE’s guidelines to promote local solar cell manufacturing. With over 27 years of experience in the solar industry, we are further enhancing our manufacturing capabilities by integrating solar cell production into our existing operations.”
Currently, Gautam Solar operates three module plants in Uttarakhand and one in Haryana. The company has also acquired a 60-acre plot in Bhiwani, Haryana, with plans to manufacture solar modules and raw materials.
The company aims to expand its solar cell and module production capacity to 3 GW by 2024-25 and further increase it to 5 GW by 2025-26.
