on March 30, 2026, the 110kV qunxi energy storage power station constructed with the assistance of Shenzhen tianshun smart energy technology co., ltd. was successfully connected to the grid at one time, marking the formal operation of the first 100-megawatt grid-type energy storage power station in central China.
The project is located in Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province, and officially started construction on December 5, 2024, with a total construction capacity of 100MW/200MWh. As a grid-type independent energy storage power station, its successful grid-connection is not only a breakthrough in technology, but also means that a new type of regulating resource with stronger active support capability has landed in China Power Grid.
Compared with conventional energy storage, Grid-Forming technology enables it to actively construct and stabilize the voltage and frequency of the power grid, just like installing an “intelligent stabilization anchor” for the power grid, which can effectively improve the power grid’s ability to eliminate high-proportion new energy and provide strong support for the nearby elimination of new energy power.
