On April 3, Huaneng Jingyang photovoltaic 20MW/40MWh energy storage project was successfully connected to the grid and put into operation. This project is the first photovoltaic power side energy storage project in Shaanxi Province, and it is also Huaneng’s first “photovoltaic
energy storage” integrated demonstration project in Shaanxi. It has set a new benchmark for Huaneng’s new energy development in Shaanxi and created a new situation in the integrated construction of photovoltaic energy storage in Shaanxi Province.
the project adopts 1500V high-pressure liquid-cooled battery container and string-type energy storage structure to realize the technical upgrade of energy storage system from “extensive concentration” to “fine clustering”, greatly improve the safety, stability and charge and discharge efficiency of energy storage system, and provide replicable and popularized technical scheme and construction experience for photovoltaic supporting energy storage projects in Shaanxi province. The successful grid connection and commissioning of this project has effectively enhanced the grid’s capacity to integrate photovoltaic renewable energy, strengthened its ability to balance peak demand and regulate frequency, and improved overall operational safety and stability. It is driving a transition of new energy from “stand-alone power generation” to “coordinated solar-plus-storage systems for efficient utilization,” thereby injecting strong momentum into the region’s green and low-carbon energy transformation.
Going forward, the Huaneng Jingyang project will further advance innovative applications of “photovoltaic plus energy storage,” establish a benchmark demonstration project, support Shaanxi Province’s efforts to optimize and upgrade its energy mix, and contribute Huaneng’s expertise to the region’s green, sustainable economic development.
