Astronergy Releases 2024 Sustainability Report, Highlighting Progress in Green Transformation and Supply Chain Collaboration

On April 30th, Astronergy unveiled its 2024 Sustainability Report, systematically disclosing its practices and achievements in sustainable development management, green product innovation, green low-carbon transformation, and green supply chain collaboration.

The report indicates that in 2024, Astronergy’s cumulative shipments of photovoltaic (PV) modules exceeded 130GW, capable of generating approximately 169 billion kWh of green electricity annually, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 160 million tons. Leveraging technological innovation as its driving force and zero-carbon factories as benchmarks, the company has been recognized as a PVEL “Top Performer” module supplier for nine consecutive years.

In product design, Astronergy prioritizes user needs, breaking traditional module boundaries through green empowerment to continuously enrich its lineup of eco-friendly products. The ASTRO N7s series modules adopt the company’s independently developed ZBB-TOPCon technology and a busbar-less design, eliminating harmful gas emissions from flux usage and reducing silver paste consumption by 20% in solar cells, significantly lowering energy consumption and carbon emissions during production. During the reporting period, the company conducted life cycle assessments on all 38 of its in-market products, achieving a total raw material savings of 6,789.19 tons through design optimization, marking a 2.8-fold increase year-on-year.

Astronergy is advancing sustainable packaging by utilizing recyclable materials, lightweight designs, and promoting packaging material recycling and resource recovery, thereby reducing resource consumption and environmental impact in product packaging. In terms of packaging consumables, the company has optimized chemical transportation packaging by replacing chemical container drums at all its bases with tank trucks and replacing perishable wooden pallets with durable iron pallets. Collaborating with four encapsulant suppliers on packaging material recycling and resource utilization projects, the company has achieved a 50% share of recyclable packaging materials.

Astronergy integrates low-carbon development concepts into warehousing design, management, and operations, employing intelligent equipment and energy-saving devices to meticulously manage energy consumption and deploy green energy. Its innovations in green logistics are also noteworthy: the company has achieved 100% electrification of forklifts used in internal logistics. In module recycling, Astronergy actively participates in industry standard-setting, serving as the vice-chairman unit of the China Green Supply Chain Alliance’s PV Committee, and has formed a strategic partnership with PV CYCLE. Currently, the company has obtained 17 WEEE compliance certificates across 10 European countries, establishing a complete value chain closed-loop from module recycling to reuse.

In terms of industrial chain layout, Astronergy operates the world’s first “Smart Manufacturing + Internet” transparent factory and has established multiple production bases globally.

To reduce environmental impact, Astronergy has implemented diversified measures to lower water and energy consumption while enhancing resource utilization efficiency. The company undertook 184 energy-saving projects throughout the year, saving 122 million kWh of electricity, equivalent to conserving 15,074.71 tons of standard coal and achieving energy-saving costs of 118 million yuan. Additionally, Astronergy places great emphasis on water resource management and emissions control. In 2024, its factories implemented 17 water-saving projects, saving 2,103,900 tons of water and reducing water costs by 8.4347 million yuan. The water recycling rate reached 91.56%, with a 37.67% decrease in comprehensive water consumption intensity compared to the 2022 baseline year.

Notably, Astronergy continues to refine its responsible supplier system, embedding requirements for environmental protection, health and safety, labor rights, and integrity into the full lifecycle management of suppliers, driving partners toward sustainable development. In supplier management, the company requires 100% of its core suppliers to be certified under ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, with 32 suppliers obtaining national-level green factory qualifications.

Astronergy adheres to a people-centric employment philosophy, creating an equal and suitable workplace environment for diverse employees. As of the end of 2024, women accounted for 27.56% of its workforce and 22.22% of its board members. The company has recruited 193 employees with disabilities, with one in every ten employees coming from ethnic minorities and/or vulnerable groups.
